An Effect of Music Therapy on the Depression, Stress, and Ego-Resilience of Middle-Aged Women

|
This study is to investigate an effect of music therapy on middle-aged women's depression, stress, and ego-resilience. The subjects of this study are 20 middle-aged women who live in S city. Ten middle-aged women were randomly assigned to an experimental group and 10 middle-aged women were randomly assigned to a control group. The music therapy program was performed every 60 minutes twice a week, 12 times in total from July 1, 2019. The measurement tools are the depression scale, the stress scale and the ego-resilience scale. The pre- and post- test and the analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) were conducted to an experimental group and a control group. The results of the research are as follows: first, the music therapy program affects the depression of the middle-aged women. Second, the music therapy program affects the stress of the middle-aged women. Thirdly, the music therapy program affects the ego-resilience of the middle-aged women. Therefore, this research proves that the music therapy program affects the depression, stress, and ego-resilience of the middle-aged women.
